Wrestling Sets Awards Banquet Date

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Wrestling team will host its annual awards banquet next Sunday, April 15, at 5 p.m. in the Kerr McGee Courtside Club located at the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooner wrestling program will be honoring three graduating seniors at the event: Sam Hazewinkel, Shane Seibert and Matt Storniolo.

Oklahoma finished the 2006-07 campaign with a record of 11-7 and a fifth-place standing at the Big 12 championships.  The Sooners qualified six wrestlers for the NCAA Championships and earned one All-America honor. 

Hazewinkel finished as the runner-up at 125 pounds, his fourth All-America citation.

Hazewinkel also won the 125 pound Big 12 Championships for the third time in his career and Storniolo earned his first 149 pound Big 12 title.

The Sooner coaches will be presenting awards for Outstanding Wrestler of the Year, Most Falls, Most Improved, Scholar-Athlete, Jimmy White Award and the Oustanding Freshman award.
