Kim Finishes Fifth at Houston Open

NORMAN, Okla. -- Anthony Kim carded a final-round 5-under-par 67 to finish in a tie for fifth Sunday at the Shell Houston Open in Humble, Texas.

The Dallas, Texas, resident went to the weekend at 1-under but fired rounds of 66 and 67 at the 7,457-yard Redstone Golf Club Tournament Course to jump into a tie for fifth at 12-under-par.

Scorching the front nine on the weekend, the three-time OU All-American shot 7-under-par for the two rounds with scores of 32 and 33.

The former OU standout carded only one bogey on the weekend, a final-round five on the par-4 18th, en route to the second-lowest weekend score of all competitors.

With the top-5 finish, Kim earned his largest paycheck of the year at $200,750. Through eight starts on the 2007 season, he has collected $456,259, cracking the top-50 with his latest finish.

Kim's 2,132 points in the FedExCup standings place him in 45th. A playoff will consist of four events between late-August and mid-September that will determine the winner of the FedExCup. In addition, the top 30 finishers will be guaranteed exemption for the following year.

Through April 2, 2007, Kim ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in driving distance and ball striking and 10th in greens in regulation percentage.
