COLUMBIA, Mo. The Oklahoma wrestling team opened the day winning five out of a possible six matches in the first round of the 2007 Big 12 Wrestling Championships in Columbia, Mo.
Brian Shelton won his opening round match at 133 pounds as he drew a forfeit from Mike Rowe of Nebraska.
Kyle Terry kept his streak of consecutive victories alive with his 141 pound victory over Ashtin Primus of Missouri. Terry defeated Primus by a decision of 7-0 in the first round.
Will Rowe defeated Newly Mcspadden of Oklahoma State at 157 pounds for the Sooners third victory of the morning. Rowe defeated McSpadden by a decision of 4-3.
Josh Hinton defeated Levi Wofford of Nebraska by one point at 184 pounds. Hinton took a 3-0 lead midway through the second period before Wofford scored three consecutive points in the third period. Hinton escaped with the one point victory as he had 1:48 advantage in riding time to take the match by a decision of 4-3.
Brad Farmer dominated the majority of his first round victory over Cameron Brwone of Nebraska at heavyweight. Farmer defeated Brwone by a decision of 9-5.
Semifinal matches begin at noon at the Hearnes Center.
