NORMAN, Okla., - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team (5-6) fell to Brigham Young University, 5-2, on Monday in Provo, Utah at the BYU courts. This was the first of four road matches for the Sooners. 

Oklahoma fell behind early, losing the doubles point to the No. 31 Cougars.  The Sooners lone victory came at the No. 2 spot where Christi Baxley and Monica Purice defeated Lauren Jones and Sofia Holden, 8-6. 

In singles play the Sooners gained their two points from seniors Irina Lykina and Anne Carter. 

At the No. 4 spot Lykina defeated BYU's Kristina Doerr in three sets.  After dropping the first set 6-3, she came back to take the second set, 6-4.  She closed out the match with a 6-4 victory in the third set. 

Carter, who has only played in two other matches this spring, defeated Dolly Chang in straight sets 6-1, 7-5, in the No. 6 spot. 

Oklahoma now heads to Nevada where it will play UNLV on Wednesday, March 21 beginning at 2 p.m.
