NORMAN, Okla. The No. 6 Oklahoma softball team added another win to its perfect 19-0 record on Thursday night as the Sooners downed North Texas, 4-1.  OU starter Morgan Hudsonpillar picked up her second win of the season after throwing the first six innings and allowing one earned run and striking out five.

Entering the game the Sooner offense had been leading the nation in runs scored with over 8.5 runs scored per game.  However, the Sooners struggled at the plate against the Mean Green as they only recorded four hits to UNT's seven.

“We were fortunate to come away with the win tonight,” head coach Patty Gasso said.  “I thought their pitcher did a great job tonight, but we just didn't make the correct adjustments.  We didn't have the spark we've had all year, but I know that they will have it again when we play this weekend.  We're just glad to get this one behind us and get ready for our home tournament this weekend.”

The only Sooners to record a hit were Amber Flores, Savannah Long, Stacia Aleman and Lindsey Vandever with Long recording the only two RBI of the night.  Oklahoma also snapped its streak of 18 straight games with an extra-base hit.

Long's two-out bloop single just past the infield got the Sooners on the board first as Flores and Ricketts scored on Long's two RBI hit.  Flores reached on a single while Ricketts' fielder's choice advanced her to first.

The Sooner offense couldn't get much going until the bottom of the fourth as Long reached first on a hit by pitch and OU loaded the bases after two straight singles by Aleman and Vandever.  Next, the UNT first baseman mishandled Norrelle Dickson's slap hit and the error scored two runs as OU took the 4-0 advantage.  Despite the bases being loaded, Oklahoma was unable to score any more runs as the frame ended on a Flores' ground out.

The Sooners held the Mean Green scoreless until the top of the seventh as Susan Waters opened the frame with a walk and OU replaced starter Hudsonpillar with Mathis.  Following a Mathis strikeout, the Mean Green strung together three straight hits as Monica Garcia's bases-loaded single scored UNT's first run of the game.

Mathis settled down and retired the final two batters.  The sophomore gave up three hits in one complete inning while striking out two.

The Sooners' seven-game home stand will continue this weekend as they host the OU Residence Inn Invitational this Saturday and Sunday.  OU will play Wichita State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and follow that with a 4:45 contest against Temple.  In Sunday's action, the Sooners will match up against Temple at 12:15 p.m. and finish out the tournament against Wichita State at 2:30 p.m.
