February 22, 2007 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's tennis team will head to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday, Feb. 24 to take on No. 60 Alabama.  The match will be played at the UA Varsity Courts and will begin at noon (CST).

“We are very excited to get out there and play some more matches,” said head coach Mark Johnson.  “It is going to be a tough dual, but it will be good for us.”

The Sooners are coming off of a 5-2 loss to No. 54 Tulsa on Feb. 13 in Tulsa.

This is the first time since 1994 that Oklahoma and Alabama have played.  Their first meeting came in 1981 and they have only played three times since.  Oklahoma is currently behind in the series 0-3.

Alabama comes into Saturday's matchup off a 5-2 victory over UT-Chattanooga.  The Tide is 2-1 overall with its only loss coming on the road to Iowa, 3-4.

The Sooners return home next Thursday, March 1, for their first home match of the 2007 season.

Results for Saturday's match will be posted on SoonerSports.com.
