Recap | Final Stats | Notes
OKLAHOMA HEAD COACH SHERRI COALE
On the game...
"I thought it was a pretty clean game for the first game after Christmas. We did some really good things is the first half in the half-court offense and we did some really good things in the second half in transition offense. We did a nice job on the defensive boards all night long and i thought we executed well and made good decisions for the most part. Intensity level dropped off a little bit in the second half and I am not pleased with that regardless of the score but we were able to ratchet it back up and get on a roll and finish strong. So I think this young team is growing."
On Courtney Paris not having an assist:
"I was very surprised she did not have an assist because I thought she made great decision against all the physical play in the block, usually with two or three guys all over her. She made nice passes out and it maybe wasn't that guy who scored but it was the extra passes that lead to the next guy who scored the basket. She also had some nice passes to cutters down the middle of the lane who made one more pass that lead to a wide open layup. That is one of the process passes that guards keep in their heads all the time because they understand that."
OKLAHOMA JUNIOR FORWARD ASHLEY PARIS
Getting Courtney Paris opportunities to shot the ball:
"I think we realized that they were going to be physical, and they were physical with her especially, and tried to eliminate opportunities for her to score. When she did get it they were all over her and we knew that we had to step up and contribute offensively."
OKLAHOMA FRESHMAN GUARD DANIELLE ROBINSON
On career high:
"Actually coach was talking about it when she came in and she was talking about how I got twenty points and I said, `No I didn't.' I didn't even realize it because of everyone else and because of Courtney and Ashley scoring, but it is just another game and points are not that as big of a deal, just how I play."
SOUTH CAROLINA HEAD COACH SUSAN WALVIUS
On the game...
"We have played a schedule this year, including UConn in our non-conference opponents, that has really prepared us for Southeastern Conference play. We knew coming in that our battle was going to be on the boards. If we were going to steal a win from Oklahoma, we had to out rebound them; We had to be able to push back. Oklahoma is a very special team in that area. A large part of our objective was to limit them in both rebounding and transition offense. I was impressed with them today, and we did a few things well, but we didn't do the things that we needed to do to beat a good Oklahoma team."
On limiting the scoring of Courtney Paris:
"We have decent size, and Ilona Bragrova is actually a decent defender. We are long, our kids jump pretty well, but we are like Oklahoma in that our guards don't have a lot of experience. I thought our big kids did a good job. We just didn't rebound the basketball very well. We were looking at some of the numbers at halftime and we just need to be better on the boards."
