Recap | Final Stats | Notes
HEAD COACH SHERRI COALE
On the game:
"We jumped up to a 14-to-2 lead and thought that we could get whatever we wanted off of one pass and it was continually homerun ball, homerun ball, homerun ball. And it's contagious unfortunately. And it's spreading to. So, the posts weren't passing the ball, guards weren't making good decisions and the wings weren't running and transitioning."
On the defensive end:
"I feel like we got lucky. We got lucky and they missed some shots that other guys may not have missed. I think we contested well in the first half. That first half, defensively, by halftime we hadn't dictated anything they had done. But we didn't give them anything easy."
On sophomore point guard Jenna Plumley's efforts to energize the team:
"Jenna really played her best half in the second half. She tried really hard to infuse our team with energy and maybe some of her turnovers were results of her trying to make something happen and get our team energized."
JUNIOR CENTER COURTNEY PARIS
On adjustments in the offense:
"I think a lot of little adjustments can make all the difference in the world. The guards and the posts working together and communicating with us -- telling them something to change or them telling us something to change -- it all helps."
On the guards getting the ball to her and Ashley Paris:
"Most of the time they do a pretty good job of it. Some teams do different things and we just had to make a little adjustment on how the ball got to us."
On what was missing on the court tonight:
"Better offense and more energy. The way we played during the first half against Arizona State or the way we played against Tennessee. It's just more fun when the game is like that."
SOPHOMORE GUARD JENNA PLUMLEY
On the play of the guards:
"I think a lot of it was spacing and also the post players not getting their numbers to the ball. But also, we weren't getting in the right position to get them the ball. What we figured out is that if we through that crisp pass they were able to get their hands on it immediately and go up and score. That was our main focus -- was being able to read the post and get them the ball."
On her shooting:
"I finally got to play in front of my family, friends and fans and it just felt good. When I play at home, I just have that confidence. On the road, it's a lot harder. But, like coach said, everytime we have to go out and play like Oklahoma, whether its going out and playing hard or having that confidence. We have to go out and have that confidence and our option was to score first and I came down and I did and it was a big relief."
