Oklahoma's 74-42 win tonight gave head coach Jeff Capel his 100th career victory. In his sixth season as a head coach, Capel owns a 100-57 (.637) record. Capel is 21-16 (.568) in his second year at OU.
OU used its fifth different starting lineup in the sixth game of the season. Starting tonight's contest were Tony Crocker, Blake Griffin, Austin Johnson, Omar Leary and Longar Longar.
Blake Griffin poured in 16 points and grabbed 12 boards for his third career double-double. The freshman is shooting 36-of-62 (.581) on the young season and was 7-for-10 tonight.
Longar Longar recorded his fourth straight double-digit scoring effort with 10 points. He also had eight rebounds.
Tony Crocker's four 3-point makes tied a career high set earlier this season against Denver. The sophomore guard scored 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting (4-of-6 from behind the arc). On the year, Crocker is shooting .561 (23-of-41) from the field and has connected on 10-of-21 (.476) 3-point attempts.
Through four home games, Crocker is shooting 18-of-25 (.720) from the field and 9-of-15 (.600) from 3-point range.
Crocker's game-high seven assists set a career high (his previous high was five on two occasions).
Omar Leary added 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting. The scoring output was one point shy of his OU best.
Keith Clark's three steals tied a career high for the 6-8 forward.
Four Sooners reached double figures (B. Griffin-16, Crocker-14, Leary-13, Longar-10), tying a season high.
Oklahoma connected on 23-of-45 (.511) field goal attempts in the contest. On the year, the Sooners are shooting .486 (157-of-323). It was the third game of the year that OU has hit over 50 percent of its field goal attempts.
Morehead State's 42 points were the lowest by an OU opponent since Longwood scored 40 on Jan. 30, 2007. It was the lowest scoring output for the Eagles since netting 40 against Murray State during the 2005-06 season.
OU is averaging 41 second-half points in its last four contests. The Sooners poured in 42 in the second stanza tonight.
The Sooners shot .769 (20-of-26) from the foul line, hitting nine more foul shots than the Eagles attempted. OU started 17-for-18 but missed five of its final eight attempts.
Oklahoma scored 27 points off of 20 Morehead State turnovers. OU has not committed more turnovers than its opponent in any of its six games.
