Baseball Spotlight: Michael Rocha

NORMAN, Okla. -- Freshman right-handed pitcher Michael Rocha is the focus of Soonersports.com's 12th installment of the 2008 Baseball Newcomer Video Spotlights.

Rocha and the Sooners recently completed fall practice with the annual Red/White series last weekend. 

In preparation for the 2008 season, SoonerSports.com will feature one of the Sooners' newcomers each week throughout the rest of the year.

Each spotlight will include an updated bio, Q&A session and a series of videos including practice footage and a scouting report from OU head coach Sunny Golloway.

Q: What is the event that most shaped your life?
A: When I was 12, I won the national championship in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Q: Do you have any game or practice superstitions?
A: I always do everything the same way. Get dressed the same way, warm up the same way, pitch the same way and eat the same meal before every game.

Q: Why did you choose OU?
A: The Tradition

Q: What was your favorite MLB team when you were younger?  Now?
A: It was the Astros when I was younger, but now I'm a Mets fan.

Q: Who is your favorite non-baseball athlete?
A: Vince Young

Q: Who is the person you pattern your game after?
A: Pedro Martinez

Q: Who is the most famous person you have met?
A: Emmitt Smith

Q: What is your dream job?
A:  To play baseball at the next level.

Q: What are your plans after college?
A: Finish earning my degree, and play baseball.

Q: In the movie of your life, who plays you?
A: Freddie Prince Jr., because he is the only actor I could think of that played baseball.

Q: What can you not go without during the baseball season?
A: The fans, I love them.

Q: What is the most interesting thing you did this summer?
A: I visited New Orleans and the French Quarter.
