Robinson Earns Rookie of the Week

IRVING, Texas -- University of Oklahoma freshman Danielle Robinson snagged Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Rookie of the Week honors for women's basketball games played Nov. 12-18, announced the league office Monday.

Robinson, a San Jose, Calif., native who made her first career start against No. 1 Tennessee, scored 14 points and was OU's second-leading scorer for the second straight game. The 5-foot-9 guard also had a game-high four steals and team-leading four assists in 38 minutes of play.

Robinson shares the rookie of the week honor with Texas forward Kathleen Nash.

After two games, against No. 3 Maryland and No. 1 Tennessee, Robinson is second on the team in scoring (14.5) and leads in assists (4.0), assist-to-turnover ratio (8/3) and steals (3.5).

Iowa State's Heather Ezell was the Big 12 Player of the Week after setting conference and school records for 3-pointers in a single game with 10 makes against Sacramento State in a 99-45 victory for the Cyclones.  Ezell scored a career high 32 points on 11-for-17 shooting, including a 10-of-15 mark from beyond the arc.

All three earned the respective honors for the first time in their careers.

Robinson and the No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners play No. 14 Arizona State Thursday, Nov. 22, and Mississippi State Friday, Nov. 23, in Cancun, Mexico, before returning to Norman for OU's home opener Tuesday, Nov. 27, against North Texas.
