NORMAN, Okla., -- The Oklahoma wrestling team is ranked number 17 in the W.I.N. magazine preseason poll for the 2007-08 season.
Wrestling International Newsmagazine also has five Sooner wrestlers in its individual rankings. Kyle Terry at 141-pounds is ranked No. 20, Will Rowe at 157-pounds is ranked No. 15, Max Dean wrestling at 165-pounds is No. 16, Joshua Weitzel at 184-pounds is ranked 15 and Joel Flaggert at 197-pounds is No. 13.
The Sooners finished the 2006-07 campaign with a record of 11-7. Oklahoma returns four NCAA qualifiers from last season in Joshua Weitzel, Will Rowe, Kyle Terry and two-time All-American Joel Flaggert.
Oklahoma also welcomes 10 newcomers to this year's squad, highlighted by Indiana transfer Max Dean who is coming off three straight years of qualifying for the NCAA's.
The Sooner team opens the season Nov. 4 when it travels to Oklahoma City for a triple-dual against Missouri Valley, Oklahoma City and Neosho Community College.
