LUBBOCK, Texas --  The University of Oklahoma women's cross country team finished sixth and the men ninth in the 2007 Big 12 Cross Country Championship Friday at the Rawls Golf Course on the campus of Texas Tech University.

The Oklahoma women finished with a score of 170 points and were led by senior Jessica Eldridge, who finished seventh overall to claim All-Big 12 honors for the fourth consecutive year. Eldridge finished the 6,000-meter course in the time of 20 minutes and 54 seconds, 1:32 behind Big 12 champion Sally Kipyego of Texas Tech.

Fellow senior Catherine Odell was the next OU runner to cross the line in 24th (21:51) with freshman Jessica Engel nine spots back in 33rd with a time of 22:07. Kelly Waters came in 47th (22:21) and Lauren Watson rounded out Oklahoma's scoring in 59th (22:47).

On the men's side, Oklahoma finished with 205 points, just one point behind host Texas Tech. Freshman Kevin Schwab posted the team's highest finish in the 8,000-meter race by coming in 30th with a time of 25:43. Sophomore Jon Grey was right behind Schwab, finishing 32nd (25:45) while classmate Jacob Boone finished 42nd (26:08).

Sophomores Rob Sorrell (26:15) and Matt Grey (26:36) rounded out OU's scoring in 44th and 57th, respectively.

Colorado swept the team titles and claimed top honors on the men's side as Brent Vaughn finished with a time of 24:22. Colorado has dominated the Big 12 cross country scene the past 12 seasons. The men have won every title while the women have won 11 of the 12 championships with Kansas State claiming the crown in 1998.

Next up for the Sooners is the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional, Nov. 10, in Peoria, Ill.
