What a Weekend in Norman

What a Weekend in Norman

October 14, 2007 | Athletics

NORMAN, Okla. -- A marquee match-up between two of the top football teams in the land... A top 25 volleyball match featuring the No. 1 team in the country... Homecoming... The first official practices for the top 15 women's basketball team and the resurgent men's basketball squad.

On top of all that, ESPN's popular College GameDay series was in town to broadcast from the OU campus for the fourth time since 2000.

It was quite a weekend in Norman to say the least. The Boomerblast brings you all the highlights.

For many schools, all of these events on a single weekend might be unfathomable. At Oklahoma, this is simply what we do.

The mission of the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is to inspire champions today and prepare leaders for tomorrow. As OU strives to make each of its teams and individuals championship caliber, perhaps the two most important factors in upholding this mission are tradition and exposure. With all of the events on campus this past weekend, both were at their peak.

Weekends like this emphasize how special and how exciting it is to be a Sooner and reaffirm that there truly is only one Oklahoma!
