Baseball Summer League Update No. 2

NORMAN, Okla. -- As part of continuing coverage of Oklahoma baseball throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country, including former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.
Update No. 2
In the Cape Cod League, junior shortstop Aaron Reza leads the Chatham A's with a .417 batting average (15-36) and a .447 on base percentage.
Reza went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs on July 2 in a 14-3 win over the Falmouth Commodores. The A's have lost back to back games since, and are currently in third place in the East Division at 7-7.

Also in the Cape Cod League, juniors Kody Kaiser and Joe Dunigan have helped the Orleans Cardinals to a five game win streak and first place in the East Division with a record of 12-5. Kaiser recently went 2-for-5 and scored two runs in an 11-5 win against fellow Sooner Jackson Williams and the Hyannis Mets. Williams is batting .317 for the Mets, who are in third place in the West Division.
In the Texas Collegiate League, junior Brad Burns has only allowed two runs in three starts on the mound for the Weatherford Wranglers. Burns is currently 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA, while senior teammate Matt Lovelady has pitched in six games and surrendered two earned runs. The Wranglers are in last place in the Rogers Hornsby Division with a 6-15 record.
Also playing in the Texas Collegiate League are the following Sooners: seniors Jimmy Rollins and Joseph Hughes (Coppell Copperheads), junior Jarod Freeman (Graham Roughnecks) and sophomores Nich Conaway (Weatherford Wranglers) and Brandon Moss (Euless Stars).
In the Alaska League, junior utility player Ryan Mottern has lowered his ERA to 1.12 in the last two appearances. Mottern has not recorded a decision in five appearances for the Kenai Peninsula Oilers.
In California, junior Kevin Duke is pitching for the Southern California Fire of the Southern California Baseball League and senior Chris Henry is pitching in the California Collegiate League for the Salinas Valley Packers.
Senior outfielder Aaron Ivey (Kanuai Menehunes - Hawaii Collegiate League) is the remaining current Sooner playing this summer and was recently named to league's all-star game.
In the Majors, seven players from last year's OU club continue to work their way up in class A baseball.
Chuckie Caufield moved up in the rookie league after batting .481 in seven games with the AZL Bewers. Now with the Helena Brewers, Caufield is hitting .353 at the plate in four games.
After an impressive debut for the Staten Island Yankees (NY Yankees), Daniel McCutchen moved up in Class A and struck out four batters in three innings in his lone appearance for the Charleston River Dogs. With Stanton Island, McCutchen was 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA.
