NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma men's golf team stands in a three-way tie for eighth place after day two at the NCAA Central Regional at Sand Ridge Golf Club just outside of Cleveland, Ohio.

OU followed a first-round team score of 292 (+8) with 298 in Friday's round.  The Sooners' 590 total leaves them 25 shots out of the lead, but only seven strokes from the top five.

All-American Anthony Kim turned in Oklahoma's low second-round score, firing an even-par 71 at Sand Ridge's 7,173-yard layout.  Starting on the back nine, the junior from La Quinta, Calif., was three-under-par through 12 holes before taking a triple-bogey at the par-3 fourth.  He recovered with a birdie on his next hole before a bogey at No. 6.

Kim started the day in a tie for 34th overall and moved up 20 spots to a tie for 14th with teammate Shawn LaFontaine.

A senior from Cobourg, Ontario, LaFontaine carded a one-over 72 for the second straight day to finish with a two-round total of 144, seven shots off the pace.

Sophomore Phillip Bryan followed a first-round 74 with a five-over 76 in Friday's round.  The Mustang, Okla., native is tied for 60th at 150 (+8).

Justin Fraley, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, turned in the Sooners' final counting score of the day, an eight-over-par 79.

Oklahoma State extended its lead in the team standings with a team score of 285 (+1) in the second round.  The Cowboys have a two-round total of 565 (-3) and hold a nine-shot lead over Northwestern.

The Maxwell champions also boast the top two players in the individual standings.  Zack Robinson fired a blistering five-under 66 on Friday to take a one shot lead over Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Jonathan Moore.

First-round leader Chris Wilson of Northwestern dropped into a three-way tie for fifth place after a second-round 74.

The top 10 teams, as well as the top two individuals on non-qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, May 31-June 3 at the Crosswater Golf Club at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.

Final round tee times are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. CDT.  Sooner golf fans can follow live tournament scoring at www.golfstat.com
