Four Sooners Earn All-Big 12 Honors

NORMAN, Okla. Oklahoma's Michael Neal, Terrell Everett, Taj Gray and Kevin Bookout were honored as All-Big 12 selections today by the league's head coaches.  Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Neal was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, was named to the All-Rookie Team and was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection.

Everett and Gray were both second-team All-Big 12 picks while Gray was also named to the All-Defensive Team.

Bookout was an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection.

Neal, a junior guard from Mesquite, Texas, led the Big 12 in conference games with his .495 3-point percentage and his 3.9 treys per game.  The 3.9 3-point makes per league contest established a Big 12 record.  Neal was OU's leading scorer in conference play at 14.8 points per game.  The Lon Morris Junior College transfer has made at least one 3-pointer in all of his 25 games this season and has made at least two in 21 contests.

Everett, from Charleston, S.C, is averaging 12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, a Big 12-best 6.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game.  The senior guard ranks in the nation's top 10 in assists and has led OU in the category in 22 of 27 games this year.

Gray leads the Sooners in scoring (14.4 ppg), rebounding (7.7 rpg), blocks (1.5 bpg) and field goal percentage (.572).  A senior forward from Wichita, Kan., who has five double-doubles on the year, Gray ranks fourth in the league in rebounding, third in field goal percentage and seventh in blocks.

Bookout, another senior forward, is averaging 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds this season while shooting .561 from the field.  Earlier this year he became the 34th 1,000-point scorer in OU history and he ranks second all-time in field goal percentage (.574).  The Stroud, Okla., product has played the last 12 games with a broken bone in his left wrist.

The Big 12 Championship's No. 3 seed, the Sooners earned a first-round bye and will play Friday at 8:20 p.m. in Dallas against Nebraska or Missouri.  OU would play Saturday at 3:20 p.m. in the semifinals and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the title game.
