Kim Advances at U.S. Amateur

Sooners Fourth, Kim Extends Lead

HUMBLE, Texas Anthony Kim extended his lead with a three-under-par 69, and the OU men's golf team recorded the fourth-best team total of the day to remain in fourth place at the Hall of Fame Invitational at Redstone Golf Club.

The Sooners fired a second round team score of 299 (+11).  Only Oklahoma State (+4), Texas A&M (+5) and East Tennessee State (+10) finished round two with better team totals.  Oklahoma stands at 599 (+23), 13 shots behind Oklahoma State.

A two-time All-American and the reigning Big 12 Player of the Year, Kim was the only player to break par in both of the first two rounds.  He currently holds a commanding eight stroke lead over Jhonatton Vegas of Texas and Oklahoma State's Jonathan Moore.

Kim has now shot under-par in five consecutive tournament rounds beginning with the first round at the Ashworth Invitational, Feb. 27-28.

Seniors Brodie Flanders and Justin Fraley are tied for 34th place at 154 (+10).  Fraley shot a second-round 74 (+2) after starting the day in a tie for 67th.  Flanders also made a move up the leaderboard, jumping from a tie for  42nd to 34th with a four-over 76 on day two.

Junior Nick Sheedy carded an 80 to complete the Sooners' second round total.

First round leader Texas dropped to a tie for second with East Tennessee State at 593 (+17).  Oklahoma State is first at 586 (+10).

The final round of the Hall of Fame Invitational will begin with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start Sunday morning at Redstone's Tournament Course.
