NORMAN, Okla. -- Courtney Paris was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week for the eight time this season. It marks the seventh consecutive week that she has won an honor and the 11th weekly honor of the year for the Wooden Award candidate.
To put her total number or recognitions in perspective, consider the fact that Sophia Young has won 10 weekly awards in her career. Young was recently named one of five players to the Big 12 Tenth Anniversary Team.
Paris has won the Player of the Week award on three occasions.
Last week, Paris became the first player in Big 12 history to record 600 points and 400 rebounds in a season. The rookie center averaged 18.5 points, 14 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 2.5 steals and two assists in wins over Kansas State and Nebraska.

She pushed her season rebound total to 433 boards and is just 11 shy of breaking the NCAA freshman single season record, which has stood for 25 years. The California native also extended her double-double streak to 21 games and her season total to 26.
Paris had 22 points and 15 rebounds at Kansas State last Wednesday. She followed that up with 15 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and two steals against Nebraska.
