February 13, 2006 | Women's Basketball

DALLAS -- Courtney Paris (Oklahoma) was selected Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week by a media voting panel for games played from Feb 6-12. Paris was recognized for the ninth time this season while earning her sixth rookie award.  Both totals are Big 12 records.

Baylor's Sophia Young was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week.

Paris averaged 24.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in Oklahoma's wins over Kansas and No. 12 Baylor last week. She helped the Sooners extend their winning streak to nine games while extending her Big 12 record of consecutive double-doubles to 17. The rookie center set the Big 12 single season double-double record - previously held by Iowa State's Angie Welle (2001-02) - with her 21st and 22nd of the year.

Against Kansas, Paris needed just 25 minutes to tally 18 points and 12 rebounds. She led OU over Baylor with 31 points and 19 rebounds in 31 minutes of action.

The California native also averaged 2.0 blocks and 2.0 assists while grabbing 15 offensive boards among her 31 total rebounds.
