NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma men's cross country team ventures northeast this Saturday, Oct. 7, for the Penn State National Invitational at University Park, Pa.
The Sooners will compete in a field of over 20 teams, but none will have traveled as far as OU, about 1,200 miles.
The meet takes place at Penn State University's Blue Golf Course, the long-time home facility to the Nittany Lions. The men's 5.2-mile race begins at 10 a.m. Central.

Though the venue has been an annual date on the schedule for many of the nation's top teams, it is anything but a traditional stop for OU. The last time a Sooner raced the Blue Golf Course was Nov. 19, 1984, when Tove Lutdal finished 24th at the NCAA National Women's Cross Country Championships.
Junior Jason Coleman and freshman Rob Sorrell lead the Sooners in their final meet before the Big 12 Championships, Oct. 27.
Freshman Jacob Boone, sidelined for the first two meets with an infection in his leg, will make his collegiate debut Saturday.
The Sooner women return to action next week, Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Indiana State Pre-National Meet in Terre Haute.
