NORMAN, Okla. -- The white team came out on top for the second consecutive day in the Annual Red-White Series with a 9-3 victory in game two on Wednesday in 50 degree temperatures at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Freshman Devin Shepherd and junior Vincent Biancamano each drove in two runs for the white team and senior pitcher Jimmy Rollins was solid in his start on the mound with five strikeouts.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the white squad plated six runs in the bottom of the third frame on a pair of two-run doubles in the gap by Shepherd and Biancamano.

"Today was a competitive intrasquad despite the cooler temperatures," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. "I told the team after the game that I was pleased that the elements didn't slow us down today. It could have been easy for some of these guys to lock up in the cooler weather but they all played hard and it was not a factor today."
With a comfortable lead, Rollins took control on the mound with five strikeouts in his four innings pitched. The lefty got himself into a couple of jams by walking three batters, but was solid overall and surrendered one run. Rollins was relieved by freshmen Garrett Richards (2 IP, one hit, zero runs, two strikeouts) and Tyson Seng (1 IP, one hit, two runs, walk and a strikeout).
"Jimmy is another pitcher, like Ryan Mottern, that looks to be in the rotation in the spring," added Golloway. "The coaching staff was looking for him to finish the fall strongly today, and he did just that. He did lose focus with two outs on a couple of occasions and that is something he needs to work on as he makes the transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation. But overall, I was pleased with the way he threw."
Besides Shepherd and Biancamano, junior Aljay Davis was also solid offensively for the white team. Davis collected two hits on the day, scored two runs and drove in another out of the leadoff spot.
"Aljay continues to do a good job for us this fall and he is a guy that we are looking to settle into that leadoff spot," said Golloway. "He had two hits batting leadoff today and he continues to be a catalyst for getting on base. We recruited him to fill Chuckie Caufield's shoes and it looks like he is growing into that spot."
For the red squad, senior Cory Williamson led the way with two hits, while sophomore Nich Conaway pitched effectively in his two innings of middle relief (2 IP, one hit, zero runs, one strikeout).
"Cory swung that bat well today and he is a player that is consistent day in and day out for us," added Golloway. "He puts the ball in play and has the potential to boost this team offensively.
"Nich was solid for the red team and is someone that Coach Corral has been working with to help us in the setup role. He has the velocity to possibly help us in the closing role as well."
The white team will look for the sweep on Thursday after taking game one by an 8-7 count on Tuesday. The series will conclude tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The game, which marks the end to the fall season, is free and open to the public.
