Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week
Courtney Paris, Oklahoma, C, 6-4, Fr, Piedmont, Calif.
Paris averaged 26.5 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks against two Top 20 teams. The freshman talled 29 points, 21 rebounds and a career best six blocks against No. 11 Michigan State on Dec. 21. The 21 rebounds was the third-best single game total in the NCAA this season and the fourth time in 12 games she had grabbed at least 20 boards. Against New Mexico, Paris needed only 22 minutes to record 24 points and 15 rebounds as the Sooners knocked off the higher ranked Lobos in The Pit for the second time this season. With the pair of double-doubles, Paris extended her double-double streak to five games and took sole possession of the NCAA lead with 10 double-doubles this season. The Piedmont, Calif., native has averaged 19 rebounds per game over the last five contests and has moved up to No. 2 in the NCAA in rebounds per game.

Crystal Kemp, Kansas, F, 6-2, Sr, Topeka, Kan.
Kemp led the Jayhawks to three victories and the best start in school history as she averaged 22.7 points and 8.7 rebounds. Kemp posted 16 points, eight rebounds, two steals, two blocks and an assist while playing 39 minutes in a 63-52 win over Creighton. After the holiday break, Kemp missed her career-high by one point as she finished with 27 points, nine rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist in 38 minutes of action in a 73-60 win over Pepperdine. Two days later against La Salle, the Topeka, Kan., native pumped in 25 points to go with nine boards, three blocks and an assist in a full 40 minutes. Kemp played all but three minutes in the three-game span. She shot 49.1 percent from the field and 94.1 percent from the charity stripe. She has scored 20 or more points in four of the last five games.
The Sooners (10-3) begin the Big 12 season on Wednesday night at Iowa State (9-2). The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip and is only available on the local radio dial, KOKC (1520 AM) with Brian Brinkley and Tara DeGiusti.
