NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 3/3 Oklahoma wrestling team coming off three straight dual victories travels to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the 2006 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals presented by PayDay PRO. The duals are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14 and Sunday, Jan. 15 and will be held at the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.
“We're very excited about the competition this weekend and this will be the toughest dual meet in the history of this tournament,” said head coach Jack Spates. “The tournament made a concerted effort this year to get the top teams and they did a great job of it.”
This year's Duals feature 15 of the top 25 teams in the country, including Big 12 schools Oklahoma State, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa State.
The Sooners, the No. 3 seed, are set to face Cornell at 11 a.m., on Saturday. Complete brackets for the duals can be found at www.intermatwrestle.com.
“This is an incredible event and we drew a very tough draw in Cornell. It only gets tougher from there. Our guys need to come ready to wrestle. I believe our team is feeling good and we feel that last weekend's experience only makes us tougher,” continued Spates.
Following this weekend's action, the Sooners return to the mat when they play host to Fresno State and Cal Poly in a double dual on Saturday, Jan. 21.
