White Tops Red in Game Two, 6-2

NORMAN, Okla. -- In game two of the annual Red-White Series at L. Dale Mitchell Park, solid pitching and defense highlighted the day, but it was junior Cory Williamson's two run homer that sealed the deal for the white team, who won 6-2 over the red squad in nine innings.

"There were some outstanding defensive plays in this game," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway.  "Freddy (Rodriguez) and Aaron (Reza) both made fine plays and Arin Fowble was stellar in both the outfield and infield.  The defense really stood out today."

With plenty of run support, senior RHP Steven Guerra threw five solid innings to record the win for the white team.

"Steven put together a fine performance on the mound," added Golloway.  "The pitchers were solid, but we still have to work on some of our fundamentals, especially on offense.  Overall, I was pleased with the team's performance."

Freshman catcher Brandon Moss shined for the red team in defeat.  The Norman native was the only other Sooner to clear the fence on Friday and he also doubled in the game.

In game one of the series, the two squads played to a 5-5 tie in seven innings.  The series and the fall season will conclude on Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.  Game three is scheduled for seven innings and is slated to begin at 11 a.m.  The contest is free and open to the public.
