Kim Downs Frye 4-and-3 at U.S. Amateur

NORMAN, Okla. University of Oklahoma junior Anthony Kim advanced to the second round of match play at the 105th U.S. Amateur Championship at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa., defeating Baylor junior Jeremy Frye 4-and-3 on Wednesday.
Kim fared much better his second time around at Merion. Following a 7-over-par round on Monday, Kim took the lead in his match with a birdie on the second hole and never looked back, recording two more birdies en route to his victory.
Kim will face Webb Simpson, a sophomore at Wake Forest, in Thursday's second round. Simpson advanced with a 5-and-3 victory over Jordan Payne. The match is slated to begin at 8:40 a.m. CDT.
