Men's Golf Concludes Fall Season

LaFontaine Third Entering Final Round at Ontario

NORMAN, Okla. University of Oklahoma senior Shawn LaFontaine sits third after three rounds of the Ontario Amateur Championship in Port Stanley, Ontario, Canada.

LaFontaine (212, -4) posted his second consecutive 1-under 71 on the 6,800-yard Redtail Golf Course, moving up from his sixth-place start.

The Cobourg, Ontario, native trails leader Graham Hill (Bright's Hill, Ontario) by five strokes with one round of 18 left Friday. Hill carded the day's low round of 68.

First-round co-leader Will Mitchell (Whitby, Ontario) was second, one stroke ahead of LaFontaine. Second-round leader Andrew Parr (London, Ontario) struggled in round three, firing an 80 and falling into a tie for 13th.

The trio tees of as the final pairing tomorrow at 12:40 p.m. CT.

The three low scorers of the Ontario Men's Amateur are invited to make up the province's team for the prestigious Willingdon Cup Championship. LaFontaine, who was runner-up at the 2003 Ontario Amateur, was a member of Team Ontario when it won the cup two years ago.
