LaFontaine Sixth at Ontario Men's Amateur

NORMAN, Okla. University of Oklahoma senior Shawn LaFontaine concluded Wednesday's second round of the Ontario Men's Amateur Championship in Port Stanley, Ontario, tied for sixth place.
The Cobourg, Ontario, native shot a 1-under 71 on the 6,800-yard Redtail Golf Course to claim sixth place with the two playersWill Mitchell (Whitby, Ontario) and Lee French (London, Ontario)that tied for the lead after the first round. The trio's two-round 141 is three strokes behind leader Andrew Parr, the defending tournament champion, who shared low-round honors with his 67.
The top-60 low scorers in the 156-player field made the cut for the final two rounds of 18, to be played Thursday and Friday. Over 1,000 of the province's best golfers, a record turnout, attempted to qualify for the Ontario Men's Amateur.
