NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma women's tennis team earned its third-straight win Saturday by defeating Boston College, 6-1, at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.    OU took the doubles point and claimed five of six singles positions to end Boston College's six-match winning streak.  The Sooners move to 12-8 overall while the Eagles fell to 9-7.

“We didn't know what to expect with this team today because we had never played them before,” head coach Mark Johnson said. “I thought the girls responded well to the windy conditions we played in today and I'm just glad we came away with a victory.”

The Sooners got off to a good start, winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 slots to take the doubles point. For the second straight match, the tandem of senior Jessica Braver and Irina Lykina sealed the doubles point for Oklahoma, defeating BC's pair of Gia Nafarrete and Nida Waseem, 8-3.  Braver and Lykina's win came after Chelsea Orr and Heather Saluri defeated BC's Morgan Landes and Caitlin Arnould, 8-2, at the No. 3 position.  Orr and Saluri improved their perfect doubles record to 5-0 while Braver and Lykina earned their third-straight win.

In singles play, the Sooners were led by Lykina at the No. 2 position who won the two-setter, 6-0, 6-4, over BC's Waseem to extend her winning streak to five straight matches.  At the No. 6 position, sophomore Amanda Pratzel dominated Boston College's Amy Moulden, 6-1, 6-2, to add another point to the Sooner scoreboard.  Clinching the match for the Sooners was freshman Christi Baxley who won both sets, 6-2, against BC's Gia Nafarrete.

Senior Bethany Griffin rallied after dropping the first set, 4-6, and dominating the next two sets, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) to claim a victory over BC's Landes at the No. 3 position.  Fellow senior Jessica Braver added the final Sooner point with a 7-5, 6-4, win over BC's Lindsey Nash.

The Sooners return to conference play next week when they head to Stillwater, Okla.,  for a match up against Bedlam rival Oklahoma State, Wednesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at the DeBois Tennis Center.
