NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma women's tennis team will go for its third straight win Saturday, April 9, when it hosts Boston College at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center at 1 p.m. in Norman, Okla. Admission is free to all home matches. The Sooners enter the match with an 11-8 overall record while the Eagles arrive with a 9-6 mark. The match up will mark the first time the two teams have ever faced each other.
OU carries momentum into its final non-conference match of the season after sweeping Oral Roberts and Wichita State earlier this week.
Sophomore Irina Lykina has been tough to stop at the No. 2 spot, winning her last four straight matches and claiming a victory over TCU's nationally-ranked Helena Besovic earlier this month. Senior Bethany Griffin and freshman Christi Baxley are leading the way in doubles action for OU with a Sooner-best seven wins.
Boston College is carrying a six-match winning streak into the match after sweeping Georgetown last Sunday. Leading the Eagles is junior Szilvia Szegedi with an 8-7 record at the No. 1 slot while BC's pair of Morgan Landes and Caitlin Arnould lead the way in doubles with a 9-3 mark at the No. 3 position.
Live scoring of the match will be available at SoonerSports.com.
