LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The No. 11 Oklahoma softball team (20-4) held off a pesky UNLV (12-9) squad for a 4-3 win in Saturday night action at the Las Vegas Classic. The win extends OU's winning streak to 18 games, which ties a 2003 streak for the third longest in program history.
Oklahoma struck for two runs in the top of the first inning. An errant throw from UNLV third baseman Brittany Meade sailed into the outfield and allowed Norrelle Dickson to score from first base. Vesely, who moved to third on the throwing error, scored on a RBI single by Christina Enea.
The Running Rebels answered with a run on a double by Meade in the home half of the first inning.

Freshman Savannah Long pushed the Sooners advantage to 4-1 with two run home run in the bottom of the fourth. The towering shot is the second of the Long's career.
Long's bomb turned out to be the game winner as the Rebels again responded to OU's scoring. A solo home run by Rebel DP Shannon Crisp and a RBI fielder's choice by Rosa Ordaz cut the Sooners' lead to one at 4-3.
Senior Kami Keiter relieved Nicole Denes in the fourth inning and quickly silenced the Rebels bats. Keiter worked 3.2 innings allowing two hits and striking out five. The Colorado native hit the century mark with the win and now stands at 10-1 on the season. Keiter also extended her personal streak of innings without allowing an earned run to 55.
Junior Kristin Vesely extended her hitting streak to 17 games, which is one shy of Lisa Carey's (2000) school record 18-game streak. Sophomore Norrelle Dickson had her 12-game streak snapped.
OU will play UNLV at approximately 4:15 p.m. (PST) Saturday afternoon. The Sooners will close out play in the Las Vegas Classic on Sunday morning when they face Drake at 9 a.m.
