Sooners Set To Celebrate 2004-05 Season

NORMAN, Okla.   Oklahoma head women's basketball coach Sherri Coale and Sooners would like to invite OU fans to celebrate the achievements of the 2004-05 season at their annual end of the year banquet set for Saturday, April 16, at 6 p.m. at the USPS National Center for Employee Development, off of Highway 9. 

Tickets for the banquet are $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12 years old. You may reserve your spot by calling the women's basketball office at (405) 325-8322. The reservation deadline is April 8.

Oklahoma (17-13) appeared in its sixth straight and eighth overall NCAA Championship this season. OU also finished the rugged Big 12 Conference tied for sixth-place with an 8-8 performance. Individually, OU's Dionnah Jackson and Leah Rush capped off the year by earning All-Big 12 honors. Jackson was also named to the Associated Press All-America honorable mention team and will participate in the WBCA All-Stars Challenge at the women's basketball Final Four in April.

The duo was OU's one-two punch as they were the top two scorers and rebounders. Rush topped the club with 15.5 ppg and ranked second with 6.3 rpg. Jackson led the team with 8.3 rpg, 5.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Her 14.6 ppg was second best.

Jackson made history this past season by becoming just the sixth player in Big 12 history to produced a triple-double and one of only two in the league to have produced more than 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, 400 assists and 200 steals in a career.  She also ranks among OU' all-time greats in 19 categories.

Rush established herself as one of the best post players in the Big 12 as she averaged 16.1 ppg and shot 46.8 percent from the field and 84.2 percent from the free throw line. She scored in double digits in all but one game against Big 12 foes. Rush concluded the season ranking second on OU's all-time list for best free throw percentage, shooting 84.7 percent over two seasons.

As a team, Oklahoma averaged 69.0 points and 39.6 rebounds per game, compared to its opponents' 62.5 ppg and 36.0 rpg.
