Texas A&M Defeats Womens Tennis, 6-1

NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma women's tennis team suffered a tough 6-1 loss to the Texas A&M Aggies Thursday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. The Aggies dominated the night with OU's only point coming at the No. 3 singles slot. The Sooners fell to 9-6 overall and 2-3 in the Big 12 while the Aggies improved their overall record to 7-9 and 2-1 in conference play.

Senior Beth Griffin's win at No. 3 singles over A&M's No. 70 Anna Lubinsky proved to be the lone point for the Sooners in the contest. Griffin dropped the first set 1-6, but bounced back to win the next two sets, 7-5, 6-4. It marked Griffin's ninth win of the season, more victories than she claimed all of last season.

Griffin and partner freshman Christi Baxley provided the other bright spot for the Sooners at No. 2 doubles. The duo defeated A&M's Anna Blagodarova and Tiffany Clifford in a tight match, 8-7 (3). The Sooner duo is on a roll and have won their last four straight matches with an overall spring record of 4-2

OU looks to bounce back and take a day's rest before heading to Austin, Texas to take on the No. 9 Texas Longhorns Saturday, March 26 at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center at 10 a.m.
