FULLERTON, Calif. -- The No. 8 Oklahoma softball team's (31-5) game with No. 13 Washington that was orignally scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Central, was officially canceled due to rain delays at the 2005 KIA Klassic. The championship bracket consolation game would not have started until after midnight, so both head coaches decided against playing into the early morning.
The cancellation ends the Sooners visit to California. OU went 4-1 with wins over No. 7 Louisiana Lafayette, No. 21 Arizona State, Indiana and Syracuse, during the spring break trip. The Sooners lone loss came to No. 1 Arizona, who snapped their school record 29-game winning streak.
OU returns to action on Wednesday, March 23, when they travel to Tulsa to face the Golden Hurricane at 7 p.m. The regional foes have splilt four contests over the last two seasons.
OU opens the Big 12 season next weekend with Iowa State. OU plays the Cyclones at 6 p.m., Friday, and Noon, Saturday.
