Women's Tennis Falls to New Mexico, 6-1

NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 24 Oklahoma women's tennis team dropped its third straight match Saturday, losing to No. 33 New Mexico, 6-1, at the Lobo Tennis Club in Albuquerque, N.M. The loss left the Sooners at 5-3 while the Lobos moved to 4-3.
In doubles action, Oklahoma changed its lineup but the Sooners weren't able to pick up a point for the doubles portion. The duo of senior Heather Saluri and freshman Chelsea Orr were the highlight of doubles action for the Sooners defeating New Mexico's Michelle Heidbrink and Tiffany Robertson, 8-2.
In singles action, Braver provided the only point of the day for the Sooners handily beating New Mexico's Scott, 6-2, 6-3. At the No. 1 position, Saluri dropped her match, 6-3, 6-1, to No. 24 Maja Kovacek while Lykina lost her first match of the spring to the Lobos' Gersic, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Christy Greenly dropped the first set against New Mexico's Quintal, 6-1, and fought hard in the second set before losing it 7-5. Baxley also dropped her first singles match of the spring after losing to New Mexico's Robertson, 6-2, 6-4.
The Sooners will return to the courts Sunday at 10 a.m. (CST) against Montana State in Albuquerque, N.M.
