Men's Golf Concludes Fall Season

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team wrapped up its fall season Sunday with an 18th-place finish at the Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm Golf Club.
Senior Shawn LaFontaine was the high finisher for the Sooners after shooting 71 (-1) in the final round to finish in a tie for 40th place at 6 over par.
OU finished with a three-round team total of 910 (+46). The Sooners remained in 15th place after Saturday's second round, but fell to 18th on Sunday after turning in a team score of 309 (+21).
Sophomore Phillip Bryan carded a 74, junior Robert Stone shot 80, and senior Justin Fraley turned in an 83 after firing a pair of 74s in the first two rounds.
Georgia State took home the team title with a three-round total of 856 (-8), and also had the tournament medalist, Mark Haastrup, who finished at 11 under par, two strokes ahead of Clemson's David May.
The Sooners will begin the spring golf season at the Big Island Intercollegiate in Kona, Hawaii, Feb. 8-10, 2006.
