NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma men's cross country team took its second victory in as many races after winning the Oral Roberts Classic in Tulsa, Okla., Saturday afternoon.
Scott Hollingsworth and Blake Culp finished fifth and sixth, respectively, leading OU to a six-point victory (34-40) over Oral Roberts. Pittsburg (Kan.) State (50) finished third.
Hollingsworth ran the 8K in 26 minutes, 19.1 seconds, just one second slower than his career best time. Culp trailed him by 0.6 seconds.
OU's Jason Coleman, running unattached, won the event. He covered the distance in 25:39.6, beating ORU's James Wanjiku (25:40.3) and Sooner Tyler Schmiedeberg (26:06.8), who also ran unattached.
It was Coleman's second consecutive victory. He also won the Arkansas-Little Rock Open on Sept. 3.
Salah Hussein (ninth, 26:33.7), John Mullholland (12th, 26:58.2) and Donald Gies (27:17.9) rounded out Oklahoma's scorers.
The OU women run again Saturday, Oct. 15, for the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., before both teams return to action together at the Big 12 Championships on Friday, Oct. 28.
