Hollingsworth Named Big 12 Runner of the Week

October 11, 2005 | Cross Country

NORMAN, Okla. Oklahoma's Scott Hollingsworth was named the Big 12 Male Runner of the Week by the league office in Dallas, Texas, today.

Hollingsworth led the Sooners to their second consecutive overall victory at the Oral Roberts Classic.  The redshirt freshman placed fifth individually, and second among all scorers.

Hollingsworth ran the 8K in a career best time of 26:19.08, shaving over 30 seconds off his previous best for that distance (26:49.3).  His efforts helped OU to its first ever back-to-back event wins in over 25 years.

Landra Stewardson of Texas was this week's female recipient. Stewardson captured the 68-runner Texas State Classic in San Marcos, Texas, recording a personal-best time of 17:54.

The OU women's cross country team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., in preparation for the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 28.
