NORMAN, Okla. -- FSN Southwest presents a behind-the-scenes, day-in-the-life feature story on Oklahoma women's basketball coach Sherri Coale on next week's "Big 12 Showcase" magazine show telecast Friday, Jan. 21 at 2:30 p.m. CT (replayed Saturday, Jan. 22, 11:00 a.m. CT).
Coale agreed to let FSN Southwest's cameras into her Norman home last Sunday, giving the network an all-access pass to watch her prepare for that afternoon's game against Texas A&M.
The segment begins with Coale waking up her two children, Chandler and Colton, and sending them off to church with her husband, Dane, while she heads to campus for the morning shootaround. Upon returning, Coale offers a tour of her backyard and pool area, which she personally upkeeps. It's right next to the kennel that houses husband Dane's hunting dogs -- an adult named Rascal and a puppy named Courtney's Paco.
"Courtney Paris actually named him when she was here on a recruiting visit, and it stuck!" Coale says of the prize recruit from Piedmont, Calif., who signed with OU in November along with her twin sister, Ashley. "Thank goodness she said 'Yes,' or I don't know what we'd have done with the dog."
One of college basketball's notoriously best-dressed, Coale opens the doors to her prized closet, filled with designer suits and shoes. She reveals, in fact, she dresses from the feet upward on game days.
"Sometimes it's the shoe you're feeling," she says, in front of shelves filled with shoes by Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman, and Manolo Blahnik. "I have a shoe fetish. I love shoes. I love high heels."
After selecting her heels for the day, the cameras follow Coale through her pregame ritual and OU's 73-53 victory over Texas A&M.
