OU 2003-2004 Wrap Up
The Oklahoma men's golf team completed its 2003-2004 season by advancing to the NCAA Championship for the fourth time in the last five years.  This marked the school's 30th appearance in the NCAA Championship. The Sooners made the NCAA Championships by finishing third in the NCAA Central regional, their highest regional finish since they tied for first in 2001.  After their successful postseason run, OU finished the season ranked 18th in the GolfWeek poll.
 
Regular Season Recap
The Sooners postseason was fueled by their strong regular season play. Oklahoma finished in the top-5 in four of the nine regular season tournaments it competed in.  The team's highest finish came after shooting a three-round score of 858 (-6) in the Puerto Rico Classic, in San Juan Puerto Rico.

Senior Martin Flores led OU in September play with a third place finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational in Toledo, Ohio.  Flores finished the tournament four strokes off the medalist with a three-round score of 220.

In February, freshman Anthony Kim became the first Sooner medalist since John Kidwell in Sept. 2002, by carding a three-round score 205 (-11) at the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate.  Kim had two other top-5 finishes at the Puerto Rico Classic and the Morris Williams Intercollegiate.
 
Fellow freshman Carlos Del Moral also had a top-5 finish in March for at the Hall of Fame Invitational.  Competing in only his fourth tournament as a Sooner, Del Moral scored a three-round total of 210 to finish in a tie for fourth place.
 
Big 12 Championship Recap
The Oklahoma men's golf team finished in second place at the Big 12 Championship, which was played at the Prairie Dunes Country Club (par-70, 6,598) in Hutchinson, Kansas.  As a team, Oklahoma had four golfers finish in the top-15.  Freshman Anthony Kim led the Sooners with a second place finish after shooting a three-round score of 213.  Kim's finish was highest by a Sooner since John Kidwell landed in the same spot after the 2002 Big 12 Championship.  The team's combined finish of second place was the highest since 2001, when they tied for second.

NCAA Central Regional Recap
The Sooners finished in third place at the NCAA Central Regional at the Kampen Course (par 72) in West Lafayette, Ind.   OU came on strong in the last two rounds of the regional by shooting 294 and 297 to finish above three schools seeded higher than them, including then No. 2 Texas.  The team's strong last two rounds helped them to climb 10 spots on the leader board after being in 13th following the opening round.  Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Anthony Kim led the Sooners with a fifth place finish after  carding a three-round score of 218.

NCAA Championship Recap
Oklahoma's men's golf concluded its post season run by finishing in a tie for 21at the NCAA Championship played at Homestead Resort's Cascades Golf Course (par 70, 6,679) in Hot Springs, Va.  Anthony Kim concluded his first collegiate season by leading the Sooners with a three-round score of 219, which put him in a tie for 55th.

Freshman Sensations
OU was led all year by the excellent play of freshman Anthony Kim.  Kim captured the individual medalist at the 2004 Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate and was named Big 12 Golfer of the Month for February.  Kim finished in the top five of five spring tournaments.  Kim's play garnered him the Golf Coaches Association of America Phil Mickelson Award winner for freshman of the year and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year award, marking the first time a Sooner has received either award.  Kim also became the first OU freshman named NCAA All-American and he was also named to the All-Big 12 team.
 
Kim was not the only Sooner freshman to be recognized for his strong play.  Carlos Del Moral was named to the All-Big 12 team for his solid performances in nine spring starts.  This marked the first time in OU men's golf history that two freshman were named to the All-Big 12 squad. Del Moral was all named to the Central All-Region Team after recording four top 15 finishes this year.
 
Seniors Thrive On and Off the Links
Oklahoma's three seniors all collected individual honors for their work in the classroom.  Seniors Doug Manor and Blake Martin were named to the first team Academic All-Big 12 for the second consecutive season. 
 Senior Martin Flores joined his teammate on the Academic All-Big 12 first team after consecutive years of being nominated to the second team.  Flores also joined Del Moral on the Central All-Region Team.  Flores capped an impressive career and senior season by placing third in the Inverness Intercollegiate in the fall and started in every tournament as a member of the Sooners.
 
Martin was also named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America.  This marked the fourth time in program history that a Sooner has been named an Academic All-American.  Martin joins Matt Cohn (2002), Grant Waite (1986), and Cliff Pierce (1985) as the only Sooners to collect prestigious honor.

Coach Ragan Collects Post Season Honor
Head Coach Jim Ragan in his fourth year at Oklahoma was honored as the Easton Golf Pride Regional Coach of the Year for the Central Region.  The two time recipient led the Sooners to a second place finish in the Big 12 Championship as well as three third place finishes this spring against highly ranked competition. Ragan also guided four different Oklahoma golfers to top five finishes this year.
