NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 17 Oklahoma (36-20, 19-8 Big 12) begins its quest for its second conference tournament crown on Wednesday as it faces seventh-seeded Missouri (34-20-1, 12-14 Big 12) in its first contest of the 2004 Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Tournament.
The Sooners, who won the inaugural title in 1997, and the Tigers face off at 1 p.m. at Ameriquest Field.
DATES: May 26-30
FIRST PITCH: Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Oklahoma is seeded second in this year's tournament ... It marks the highest seeding for the Sooners in the history of the Big 12 tournament ... OU is scheduled to begin tournament action on Wednesday versus No. 7 seed Missouri ... No. 3 seed Texas Tech and No. 6 seed Baylor are both on Oklahoma's side of the tourney bracket ... The Sooners own a 14-13 record over the seven-year history of the Big 12 Conference Tournament ... The Sooners have never been eliminated from the tournament after the first two games ... OU christened the inaugural tournament in 1997 by winning the first tournament championship ... Oklahoma won the championship that year by defeating Texas Tech, 19-17, in the final game ... It became the third conference tournament championship won by the Sooners in program history ... The program won two other conference tournament championships as part of the Big Eight Conference in 1977 and 1979 ... OU went 2-2 the last time the tournament was in Arlington in 2002 ... That year Oklahoma won its first two games over Oklahoma State (11-3) and Texas A&M (9-1) before falling twice to eventual tournament champ Texas (1-2 & 5-8) ... OU went 1-2 in last year's tournament ... The Sooners opened last year tournament with an 11-2 loss to Texas A&M before rebounding with a 4-2 win over Oklahoma State ...
