Men's Golf Regional Preview

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's golf team will compete in the 2004 NCAA Central Golf Regional this Thursday through Saturday (May 20-22) in West LaFayette, Ind.
The regional will be held at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Course and is being hosted by Purdue University. Oklahoma is the No. 5 seed. There are 27 teams in the regional including nine Big 12 schools, all seeded in the top-15. The Big 12 and the SEC led the nation with nine teams selected each for regionals.
Oklahoma concluded the regular season with two tournaments. The Sooners recorded a second place showing at the Big 12 Conference Championships in Hutchinson, Kan. Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Anthony Kim was named to the All-Tournament Team along with senior golfer Blake Martin.
Oklahoma wrapped up the regular season at the Perry Maxwell Intercollegiate in Ardmore, Okla., with three golfers finishing in the top-15, including senior Doug Manor's third-place finish.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The 54-hole tournament begins on Thursday morning, continues Friday, and concludes on Saturday morning with the final 18-holes. The top 10 teams will advance along with the top two individuals to the NCAA Golf Championships in Homestead, Va., June 1-4.
