Golf Captures Third Place Finish To End Regular Season

ARDMORE, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men's golf team concluded the regular season with a third place finish at the Perry Maxwell Intercollegiate in Ardmore, Okla.
The Sooners, ranked No. 17, have recorded six top-five finishes this year. Three Oklahoma golfers finished in the top-15 at the Maxwell, including senior Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) who captured his first top-three victory of his career.
Manor led Oklahoma after posting the lowest second round with a 64(-6). He finished with a final round 72(+2) for a total of 206(-4), just one stroke off of first place finshers Kane Webber of Colorado and David Inglis of Tulsa. This marks the fourth different Oklahoma golfer to capture a top-five finish this season.
After an impressive showing in the Big 12 Championships, senior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) carded a final-round 73(+1), and tied for 11th place. Freshman Carlos Del Moral (Valencia, Spain) climbed six spots on the leaderboard to record a 69(-1) in the final round and tied for 15th place.
Senior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) shot a 71 in the second round to finish the tournament tied for 36th. Junior Craig Lurie (Houston, Texas) tied for 66th with a three-round score of 222(+12). Competing as individuals for Oklahoma were Junior Brad Purcell (Norman, Okla.) and sophomore Brodie Flanders (Vancouver, B.C.). Purcell tied for 68th after recording a season-low 72(+2) in the final round. Flanders tied for 76th after an eight stroke improvement in the final round.
Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Anthony Kim (La Quinta, Calif.) did not participate in the competition due to injury.
Oklahoma returns to action as the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Central Regional Golf Championships in West LaFayette, Ind., on Thursday.
