Men's Golf In Second Place After Two Rounds At The Maxwell

The Oklahoma men's golf team is in second place after two rounds at the 13th Annual Perry Maxwell Tournament in Ardmore, Okla. The Sooners shot an opening-round 282 and a second-round 274, Saturday, for a total of 556. Two Oklahoma golfers finished the day in the top-three, including seniors Doug Manor (Garland, Texas), who is tied for first and Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) who is tied for third. The tournament is being held at the Dornick Hills Country Club (par-70, 6,453 yards).

Manor, who is tied with Kane Webber from Colorado, posted a opening round 70(E) and recorded the lowest second round with a 64(-6). Three strokes behind Manor is Blake Martin who is tied for third with four others after carding a 137(-3) on the first day of competition. Freshman Carlos Del Moral (Valencia, Spain) finished the day with a 142(+2) after recording a 70(E) in the first round followed by a 72(+2) in the second.

Senior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) recorded a four stroke improvement of 70(E) in the second round and is tied for 33rd. Junior Craig Lurie (Houston, Texas) posted a 147(+7) and is tied for 54th place. Competing as individuals are junior Brad Purcell (Norman, Okla.) and sophomore Brodie Flanders (Vancouver, B.C.). Purcell is tied for 73rd aftering shooting a 78(+8) in the first round and a second round 74(+4). Flanders is tied for 81st after carding a two-round total of 155.

Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Anthony Kim (La Quinta, Calif.) withdrew from the competition due to injury.

Final round action will conclude Sunday in Ardmore.
