ROQUEBRUNE, France -- Dionnah Jackson scored 16 of her game-high 23 points in the opening 20 minutes of action Wednesday as OU defeated Roquebrune Cap-Martin, 83-68, inside the Salle Valgelate Gymnasium in Roquebrune, France.
All 12 Sooners played and scored. Oklahoma is off to a 1-0 start in its European Tour while Roquebrune suffered just its third loss of the season (19-3).
“I was pleased with how hard we played and the energy we showed,” said OU coach Sherri Coale. “We did some really good things, and we had an opportunity to look at a lot of our young guys in different situations. We made some silly mistakes in defensive transition and we fouled way too much, but we really competed. Offensively, despite shooting the ball very poorly, we moved the ball well and attacked the basket aggressively. Dionnah was just terrific on both ends of the floor.

“Kendra Moore showed glimpses of what we expect her to be. She scored 15 points, had 4 steals and made a couple of amazing passes. She's finally beginning to get comfortable on the floor again. She wanted the ball, she made things happen, and she communicated a degree of leadership to her teammates on the court. She's not there yet but she's not far away either.”
Jackson concluded the evening shooting 66.7 percent from the field, hitting 8 of 12 shots and 7 of 8 free throws for a 87.5 accuracy. The 5-9 point guard also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, dished out a game-high three assists and pocketed three steals in 26 minutes of action.
Assisting Jackson at the guard spot was freshman Kendra Moore who added 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting, including three three-pointers. Moore, who appeared in her first starting lineups for OU, also snatched a game-high four steals and had six rebounds.
Freshman center Casey Walker came off the bench to be one of three Sooners to score in double digits. Walker hit all six attempted free throws and two field goals for 10 points. Teammates Beky Preston and Antoinette Wadsworth had a solid night on the defensively end, grabbing eight and seven rebounds, respectively.
As a team, OU outrebounded its opponent, 57-33, and forced 24 turnovers to its 18. Roquebrune shot 40 percent (22-55) from the field as opposed to Oklahoma's 33.8 percent (16-40). The Sooners had a stellar night at the free throw line, canning 23 of 27 shots for an 85.2 accuracy.
OU continues its European Tour Thursday at 7 p.m. against St. Etienne in Lyon, France.
