Kim to Compete in U.S Amateur Open

Sooners Ready For Big 12 Championships

The University of Oklahoma men's golf team will compete in the 2004 Big 12 Championships this Monday and Tuesday (April 26-27 ) in Hutchinson, Kan. The tournament will be played at the Prairie Dunes Country Club. OU will be the third seed behind No. 1 Oklahoma State and No. 2 Texas. Texas is the defending Big 12 team champion. The Sooners are coming off of a successful spring season in which they placed third in the Puerto Rico Classic, fourth at the Hall of Fame Invitational, and fifth in the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate. Three Sooners have finished in the top-5 individually this year, including freshman Anthony Kim, Martin Flores, and Carlos Del Moral. Anthony Kim has posted three top-5 finishes including a victory at Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate, third-place finish at Puerto Rico Classic and a third-place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The 54-hole tournament begins Monday morning, with 36 holes being played the first day.  The final 18 will begin Tuesday  morning.

Anthony Kim

  Making his ninth collegiate start for the Sooners as a true freshman.
 Currently owns a stroke average of 71.8 through eight tournaments of action this season.
 Won Waikoloa Taylor Made Intercollegiate while shooting a career-low 67 twice.
 Named Big 12 Golfer of the Month for February.
 Recorded five finishes this spring in the top-12.

Carlos Del Moral

 Making the fifth start of the season since joining the Sooners in February.
 Finished tied for fourth at the Hall of Fame Intercollegiate with a score of 210 (-6).
 Shot a career-low 68 three times, most recently at Hall of Fame Invitational.
 Currently holds a stroke average of 72.27.

Martin Flores

 Holds a stroke average of 73.22 for the season.
 Placed third at the Inverness Intercollegiate.
 Recorded a season-low 68 in the second round of the Hall of Fame Invitational.
 Named Cleveland GOlf All-American Scholar in 2003.
 Finished sixth with a score of 224 at last year's conference tournament.

Doug Manor

 Making his fifth start of the year for OU.
 Holds a stroke average of 73.92 on the season.
 Tied his career-low 67 ub teg third round of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate.
 Shot a season-low three-round 218 at the Hall of Fame Invitational.
 Named Verizon Academic All-American and Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar in 2003.
 Competing in his second Big 12 Championship.

Blake Martin

 Making his seventh start on the year for Oklahoma.
 Holds a stroke average of 75.50 on the season.
 Recorded a season-low 68 in the third round of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate
 Shot a season-low three-round of 217 (+1) and tied for 15th in The Puerto Rico Classic
   Named Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar in 2003.
