OU Headed To Houston To Compete In The Hall Of Fame Invitational

Men's Golf Places Three on Academic All-Big 12 First Team

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma men's golf team placed three student-athletes on the 2004 Academic All-Big 12 Team.  OU seniors Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) and Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) were named to the first team for the second consecutive season.  Senior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) earned first team honors after back-to-back years of being nominated to the second team.
 
“I am very proud of all of their achievements in the classroom and on the golf course,” OU men's golf coach Jim Ragan said. “These three seniors did a superb job last year being named Academic All-Big 12 and Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars and continued their success this year. Doug Manor, Blake Martin and Martin Flores are the first group of two-time Academic All-Big 12 in OU golf history. They are great representatives of University of Oklahoma student athletes.”

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher either cumulatively or the previous two semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled matches.  Freshmen and transfers are not eligible. Seniors who have competed for a miniumum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible.

The Sooner men's golf team will return to action Monday in Hutchinson, Kan. for the Big 12 Championships at the Prairie Dunes Golf Course.
