Jabahri Brown to Miss Remainder of Men's Basketball Season

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma announced today that men's basketball senior Jabahri Brown will not play in any of OU's remaining games this year, including the postseason, due to violation of team rules.

"Jabahri has been a valuable member of our program the last three years and was an integral part of our Final Four and Elite Eight teams," said head coach Kelvin Sampson. "He will remain on scholarship and is scheduled to graduate in May. We will do everything we can as a staff to ensure that he continues to move forward and earn his degree. Our commitment to the core values of our program guides us in our support of Jabahri in this way, but also requires that we must move forward on the court without him."

While issues of team discipline remain an internal matter, Sampson said Brown's playing status is being announced to end that discussion and to permit the team to focus on its academic and basketball responsibilities. Sampson added that coaches and players will have no further comment.

Brown, who started in 70 of his 87 games at OU over the past three seasons, finishes his Sooner career with averages of 6.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game. In 25 games this season, all starts, the 6-10 center averaged 7.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists. The native of St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., ranks sixth on OU's career blocked shots list with 104.
