OU Mens Golfers in Second Place at Puerto Rico Classic

The University of Oklahoma men's golf team concluded first-round action in second place at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The Sooners finished the day with a team score of 283 (-5), just two shots behind the leader Clemson, ranked second in the nation (GolfWeek) . The tournament is being played on the River Course (par-72, 6, 945) at the Westin Rio Mar Country Club.

OU was led by senior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) and freshman Anthony Kim (La Quinta, Calif.), who both recorded an opening round of 70 (-2) and are tied for fifth place. In only his second tournament as a Sooner, freshman Carlos Del Moral (Valencia, Spain) is tied for 11th place after carding a 71 in the first round.

Also turning in impressive performances were junior Craig Lurie (Houston, Texas), making his first start as a Sooner, and senior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas).  They are both tied for 15th after shooting a 72 (E).

Oklahoma will continue the tournament with 18 holes Monday and conclude the tournament Tuesday.
