NORMAN, Okla. Oklahoma's women's basketball team was picked No. 22 in the 2004-05 Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Poll (media) as released on Monday. The Sooners, 24-9 a year ago, are one of five teams from the Big 12 Conference ranked among the nation's top 25.

Leading the chart was preseason No. 1 Tennessee. The Lady Vols received 20 of 45 first-place votes from a national media panel to edge Texas, Southeastern Conference rival LSU and three-time defending NCAA champion Connecticut for the top position. Tennessee received a total of 1,085 votes, while Texas picked up seven first-place votes en route to 1,506 points to finish three points ahead of LSU (12 first-place votes, 1,053 points). UConn had 1,017 votes and the other six first-place votes.

OU will face nine of the teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the AP preseason poll.
